Create a product
Overview
Products are the items that you purchase from suppliers and sell to customers. Products are sold in sales orders, the B2B online store, or ecommerce and marketplace integrations.
Products can have different product options, for example, colors, sizes, or alternative units of measure. They can have serial numbers, be part of a batch, use FIFO, or be non-stock items.
After you create a product, you can track your stock amount in Cin7 Omni. Create a purchase order to order more of a product, or an adjustment to update your stock amounts.
You can also import your products or update them in bulk. There are many different fields and settings you can add and set up for Product.
Create a product
There are many different types of products you can create or even manufacture. There are different steps if you have fashion products (with sizes) or products with alternative units of measure (sold in packs).
In the navigation, select
Products.
Select Create New Product.

There are many fields where you can add product information. At a minimum, we recommend updating:
Product Name: this name will show on your integrations, B2B online store, POS, and throughout Cin7 Omni.
Supplier: the person you normally buy the product from.
Style Code, Code, and Size Code: these are short unique codes to quickly identify a product, product options, or sizes.
Stock Control: choose the type of stock management for this product. FIFO is the simplest stock control method, where you sell your oldest products (first in, first out).
-
Order Type: choose how the order is sold. We recommend selecting Orderfor most products. You can also use:
Kit: for Bill of Materials products. This will show Virtual Stock.
Limited Stock: for B2B products. You can prevent limited stock products from overselling.
Purchase To Order: for products that are only ordered when sold.
Made To Order: for Bill of Materials products that are only built when sold. This will show Virtual Stock.
Dropship: for products sent directly to customers from your supplier (dropship).
Gift Voucher: for gift vouchers in POS.
You can add images to your product and product options. This will show on your integrations, product list, B2B online store, and throughout Cin7 Omni.

Depending on your product, you may have different colors, styles, or options. For example, customers could buy a chair made of ash, oak, or pine. These Product Options use the overall information for the product but can have different styles, prices, and images. Alternatively, you can create each style as its own product.
Under Product Options, add a unique code for that product option.
In the Option 1 Label, add the name of your option (for example, color).
You can then add the different styles in each product option row (for example, green, black, baby blue, navy, and yellow).
Select Add Option to add a new product option row.
Add prices and a cost for the product and product options. You may need to set up your price and cost tiers.
Add any other details, sizes, or alternative units of measurement to your product.
Select Save and Close.
You can see your new product and product options in the product list.
