Bulk update locations

Bulk update locations

You can track where your stock is with locations. There are many ways to update locations (including WMS, purchase orders, and bin location transfer). However, Stocktake Master can update the locations for many products at once. These locations are also known as dynamic, or inventory specific locations.

Dynamic locations won't appear in document templates until dispatched or picked. However, you can show static locations in your document templates. This lets you quickly print documents with the usual location for the products. The order of the location comes from how you have added them to your branch.

If you use Pick 'n' Pack, you will need to use static locations. Pick 'n' Pack is no longer supported from the 31st of October 2023. We recommend migrating to WMS.

Add or update locations

You can use dynamic locations throughout Cin7 Omni and WMS. However, Pick 'n' Pack and document templates use static locations.

  1. In the navigation. select Stock, then select Stocktake Master.

  2. Under Search Products, select a Branch. You can only update one branch at a time.

  3. Change the Update Mode to Dynamic Zones and Bins.

  4. You can update the product locations for all products listed below. You can refine your search with Products or categories (Category Search).

  5. Select Sync Latest Data to include the latest products (or results from your search).

  6. Under Export Data, select any relevant fields. Dynamic Zones & Bins will already be selected for you.

  7. Select Export Data and then click Select data to highlight the information.

  8. Copy the information with your keyboard (Ctrl+C) or mouse (right-click then Copy).

  9. Paste this information into a new spreadsheet. If you use leading zeros in your product codes, change your columns to text before you paste.

  10. Add the Zone and Bin information for your products in the spreadsheet.

You can only update 5000 locations at a time. We recommend updating the locations for all of your stock on hand.
You may need to split your spreadsheet into smaller spreadsheets. Try and group your products (and product options) into the same spreadsheet.

  11. Copy your spreadsheet information and paste it into Update Dynamic Zones and Bins.

  12. Select Update.

  13. Select Confirm.
