Overview

The promotional matrix can track the discounts given to customers. You might sell a specific product to a customer at a negotiated price, or the customer receives a percentage discount off an entire category.

There are three main types of promotions:

Legacy B2B uses the customer, product, and category promotions, but our new B2B online stores will not. You will need to create a B2B promotion for your new B2B online stores.

You cannot use promotions with the Cin7 Omni API.

Promotion compatibility

Promotions can be used by Sales Orders, POS, and Legacy B2B. However, some specific promotions can't be used by Sales Orders, POS, or Legacy B2B.

There are four types of customer promotions that can be used with Sales Orders, POS, and Legacy B2B. Contract price promotions can not be used with POS or Legacy B2B.

FAQs

Should I use Price Tier or the Promotional Matrix?

Both Price Tiers and the Promotional Matrix can be used. Price Tiers  are useful when a customer receives a different price for every product you sell. Promotions are useful for one-off discounts, or limited time offers, or a percentage discount for a customer rather than a set price.

For example, if you trade with Walmart, you could create a Price Tier for just Walmart, as they make up a considerable proportion of your sales. But for an infrequent customer, a percentage off discount with the promotional matrix may be a better fit.

Is this related to Special Price?

No, but Special Price functions in a similar way. You can set up a discounted price for each product, rather than a percentage or bundle discount.

Is it possible to upload promotions in bulk?

No. The ability to import promotions in bulk is not supported at this time.

Can I copy and paste promotions between products/customers/categories?

Yes. In the bottom right-hand corner of each Promotional Matrix area, there is a box. If you select the contents of this box, you can edit it by pasting it into Microsoft Excel, or paste it into other products, customers, or categories.

What happens if there are multiple promotions?

If multiple promotions are in effect, the promotion that gives the customer the lowest price will apply. If your promotion is not working, check that there are not active promotions overriding your promotion.

Can I apply a 100% discount?

Unfortunately we cannot set 100% discounts using the promotional matrix. The maximum discount you can assign in a promotional matrix is 99.9999%. However you can set a 100% discount at a sales order level.

Why do my discounts disappear when I adjust the quantity?

If you decrease the quantity of an item in the order, all discounts are removed and will need to be reapplied.
