Upload products to BigCommerce

Upload products to BigCommerce

Overview

Find out how to upload products to BigCommerce.

Products are the goods your business buys or manufactures and sells.

And, as your business depends on a changing market, what products you sell depends on changing suppliers, customers, and business opportunities. Over time you’ll add new products to your Omni inventory and want them available for sale on your BigCommerce online store.

Your BigCommerce integration enables you to upload and map new products to BigCommerce, so you don’t have to manually sync your BigCommerce inventory with Omni. When you upload a product, its options are uploaded (as variants) and mapped too.

Before uploading any products, you must configure the products and your BigCommerce integration. If you create new products in BigCommerce, you can download products to Omni instead.

Configure upload products

1. Configure integration

Enable your BigCommerce integration to upload products:

  1. Log in to Cin7 Omni.

  2. From the Integrations menu in the navigation, open your BigCommerce integration.

  3. Open Settings.

  4. Turn on Products.

  5. Under Products:

    • Select Upload Products.

    • Choose a Price Tier – the price of each product at this price tier becomes the Default Price of the product in BigCommerce (find out more about prices).

    • Choose a Special Price tier – if the product’s Special Price is active, the price of each product at this price tier becomes the Default Price of the product in BigCommerce if and only if the Omni Special Price is active when you upload your products (find out more about prices).

  6. Select Save Settings.

2. Configure products

Add the products to upload to the BigCommerce Channel:

  1. From the navigation, open Products.

  2. Open the product to upload to BigCommerce.

  3. Under Classifications > Channels, select your BigCommerce integration.

  4. Select Save and Close.

Also, if your product has options, confirm each option has a value for each relevant Option Label, and that each relevant Option Label has a name. Find out more about creating products with options.

Upload products

Once you’ve finished configuration (above), you can upload your products to BigCommerce:

  1. Log in to Cin7 Omni.

  2. From the Integrations menu in the navigation, open your BigCommerce integration.

  3. Select Upload Products from the Product Status tile. You'll see a list of Omni products that aren't mapped to BigCommerce products.

    • Don't upload unmapped products if you know they already exist in BigCommerce. If you do, you’ll be duplicating the product in BigCommerce. Instead, create a mapping for that product.

    • To upload only a subset of unmapped products, use the search box to filter the list. Only products in the filtered list are uploaded.

  4. Select Upload Products.

Here’s how each product’s details are mapped to the new BigCommerce product (any unlisted BigCommerce details will be set to defaults, and must be customized manually):

Product-level details

When you upload a product, its product-level details are uploaded to a new BigCommerce product as follows (see below for what details can be overridden by option-level details):

Cin7 Omni product BigCommerce product
Product Name Product Name
Description (only available if Show Website Options is enabled in your product settings) Description

Dimensions > Weight (only available if Show Website Options is enabled in your product settings.)

Weight
Style Code SKU (if and only if the Omni product has options)

Option-level details

When you upload an Omni product with only the default option, a new BigCommerce product without variants is created.

The default option’s details are uploaded to the BigCommerce product as follows:

Cin7 Omni default option BigCommerce product
Weight Weight
Pricing (find out more about how prices upload to BigCommerce) Default Price
Stock level (find out how stock levels are calculated for BigCommerce) Stock

And, when you upload a product with more than the default product option, a new BigCommerce product is created with a variant for each option.

In order to create the variants, BigCommerce uses the Omni products’ Option Labels as the Names of the variants’ options, and it uses the Option Values of each Option Label as the corresponding options’ Values.

The options’ details are uploaded to the BigCommerce variants as follows:

Cin7 Omni option BigCommerce variant
Code SKU
Pricing (find out more about how prices upload to BigCommerce) Default Price
Stock level (find out how stock levels are calculated for BigCommerce) Stock
