Import products with alternative units of measure
Overview
Products with Alternative Units of Measure (UOM) require additional fields to store their data. To make it easier to import this additional information, a separate import template for Alternative Unit of Measure products is provided to give you an idea of what is required.
If you sell both UOM and simple products, you will be able to import both in the same import spreadsheet by simply omitting the irrelevant fields for the simple products.
Before starting the alternative Units of Measure import procedure, it's a good idea to go through the Creating a New Product, Product Codes, and Creating Products with Alternative Units of Measure Help articles to have a better understanding of Cin7 Omni's product structure.
See the Importing Simple Products Help article for additional information on just importing simple products.
Template
The Alternative Unit of Measure Product Template is a Microsoft Excel file that contains all fields for a fashion product. The fields are explained in detail in the Product Import Reference Help article.
Prepare your spreadsheet
Given below are some points that will help putting together your import spreadsheet. Making some test imports with a small amount of data is the simplest approach to learn the principles below.
UOM code
In your spreadsheet, each alternative unit of measure requires a unique code (or SKU). This code appears on invoices and helps you to determine what measurement unit is in a transaction.
Price and cost
Each unit of measure might have a price and cost associated with it, which is handy if you get discounts for buying in bulk, etc.
UOM size
Multiple Units that determine how many of your base units of measure should be received or dispatched.
UOM options
This is the name of the unit of measurement that will appear on invoices and other documents.
