Import fashion products
Overview
Fashion products require a few extra fields to store their sizes. We've created a separate template for fashion products to give you an idea of what is required.
If you sell both fashion and simple products, then you will be able to import both in the same spreadsheet - you will just omit the irrelevant fields for the simple products.
Before you begin importing fashion goods, you should go over Creating a Product, Product Codes, and Importing Simple Products. These articles will provide you with an overview of Cin7 Omni's product structure.
Fashion template
The Fashion Product Template is an excel file containing all the fields for a fashion product. The fields are explained in detail in the Product Import Reference Help article.
Prepare your spreadsheet
Given below are some points that will help putting together your import spreadsheet. Making some test imports with a small amount of data is the simplest approach to learn the principles below.
Style Code
The spreadsheet will require each product to have a unique Style Code. This means that you can have multiple products with the same name, but with different Style Codes - useful for recurring staple products such as plain t-shirts. If this applies to you then remember to "Group by Style Code" when importing.
Style codes are also used for simple products, but we have left them out of the Simple Product Import for the sake of simplicity. We create the style code automatically based on a code when the style code column is not included in the spreadsheet.
Stock Control Method
Remember that fashion products are stored using the "batch" stock control method in the system. This means that in the stock control column in the spreadsheet, you must enter "Batch" against each fashion product.
Code
The spreadsheet will require each product option to have a unique Code (for example, Shirt001-White).
Size Range
All fashion products require a Size Range. This is explained in more detail in Creating Fashion Products. It is not required to create the size range before import; the system will do it for you when you import. You should create a separate row for each product in the available size range even if you don’t have a specific size in stock. For example, if you plan to offer S-XL but don't have any XL in stock, your product spreadsheet should still list the XL size.
Size
The size column will contain the sizes of each row, and can be as simple as "S", "M" or "L".
Size Code
The spreadsheet will require each size to have a unique code. We believe it is better to create size codes in a reasonable manner, such as "RGB1-Red-M." Ideally, it will include the "size" as described above.
