Overview of WMS Stocktake

Overview

Stocktake lets your warehouse team count stock directly in Warehouse Management (WMS) by scanning or searching for products, instead of exporting and re-importing spreadsheets.

With stocktake, you can:

  • Run a full or partial inventory count across your locations.

  • Count products by scanning barcodes or searching by name or SKU.

  • Have multiple counters working at the same time across locations.

  • Review variances between counted and system quantities.

  • Complete stock adjustments directly in Cin7 Omni.

An internet connection is required. There is no offline option for stocktake.

How to run a stocktake

A stocktake has three parts, shared between managers and counters:

WMS does not lock or freeze stock movements during a count, so it is best to schedule counts during quiet periods.

Roles and permissions

The WMS Stocktake permission decides whether a user sees the Stocktake tab in WMS and which actions they can take.

  1. From the user menu, open Users and select the user you want to update.

  2. Open the Module Permissions tab.

  3. Under Stock, find WMS Stocktake.

  4. Set the access level:

    • No Access
The Stocktake tab is hidden and the user cannot open stocktake. This is the default for every new user.

    • Standard
The user can count products in an open stocktake and submit their counts. They cannot create, review, or complete stocktakes.

    • Manager
The user can do everything a standard user can, and can also create stocktakes, review variances, reopen or reset counters, and complete adjustments.

  5. Save the user.

To apply the same access to a group of users, set the WMS Stocktake level on a role instead of on each user.
