Amazon MCF overview

Overview

Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) provides fulfillment for non-Amazon orders using your Amazon FBA inventory.

Cin7 Omni’s Amazon FBA integration supports MCF by letting you route non-Amazon orders to Amazon FBA for fulfillment. It also keeps your Omni inventory in sync with FBA to prevent underselling and stockouts.

Set up MCF

Before setting up MCF in Omni, you need to sign up for Amazon FBA. This determines the marketplaces where you can fulfill orders through MCF/FBA.

For each of your Amazon FBA marketplaces, you must create a unique Omni branch.

That branch will represent its marketplace in Omni—stock levels will sync between the branch and the marketplace, and the marketplace will fulfill the branch’s orders.

You also need to install an Amazon FBA dashboard for each marketplace. Using the dashboard, you’ll link the branch to the marketplace, map your FBA and Omni products, and download your starting inventory.

Repeat these steps for each marketplace:

  1. Create a branch—include the name of the marketplace in the name of the branch.

  2. Install an Amazon FBA dashboard:

    1. From the navigation, open the App Store.

    2. Select 3PL and then Amazon FBA.

    3. Select Request App Installation.

    4. Give your integration a short, descriptive name—include the name of the marketplace in the name of the integration.

    5. Click Install.

Once your request has been approved, connect the dashboard to the marketplace:

  1. From the Integrations menu in the navigation, open the Amazon FBA dashboard.

  2. Open Settings.

  3. Open the Connect tab.

  4. Connect to the marketplace:

    1. Click Create New Connection.

    2. Choose the Marketplace.

    3. Give the connection a short, descriptive name (include the name of the marketplace).

    4. Click Continue to Amazon and follow Amazon’s on-screen instructions until you’re returned to Omni.

Then, link the branch to the dashboard:

  1. In your Amazon FBA dashboard settings, open the Settings tab.

  2. Select the branch under Check Branches For Transactions.

  3. Click Save Settings.

Finally:

  1. Map your FBA and Omni products.

  2. Download your starting inventory:

    1. Open your Amazon FBA dashboard.

    2. On the Stock Items Updated tile, select Import Stock Levels.

The Omni branch is now linked to the Amazon FBA marketplace. You can fulfill its orders via MCF/FBA, manage your inventory, and adjust additional settings.

Fulfill MCF orders

To fulfill non-Amazon orders through FBA, you must route those orders to branches linked to FBA marketplaces.

For example, set up branch routing for your ecommerce integrations, or manually assign orders to a linked branch.

Once you’ve linked a branch to a marketplace, you can export its orders to that marketplace for fulfillment. Orders ready for export are listed on the Ready For Export tile of your Amazon FBA dashboard.

  1. From the Integrations menu in the navigation, open your Amazon FBA dashboard.

  2. On the Ready For Export tile, either:

    1. (Recommended) Click Export All to export all orders.

    2. Click Export beside the order to export.

Amazon will receive the order and send back confirmation once they have fulfilled it. Confirmations are listed on the Ready For Import tile. Import the confirmation to finish the workflow:

  1. Open your Amazon FBA dashboard.

  2. On the Ready For Import tile, either:

    1. (Recommended) Click Import All to import all confirmations.

    2. Click Import beside the confirmation to import.

Manage MCF inventory

To avoid over- or under-selling, keep the inventory at the Omni branch in sync with its connected FBA marketplace.

  • Dispatch—When you make a sale, the branch’s inventory decreases. These changes will sync to FBA when you export the sales order for fulfillment.

  • Replenishment—When you replenish your FBA inventory, you'll need to download the related shipment plan to Omni to update the branch’s inventory.

  • Discrepancies—Inventory at FBA may be lost, damaged, or unexpectedly found. To keep your records accurate, periodically download your FBA inventory to Omni to account for any discrepancies.

Additional MCF settings

Invoice dates

By default, Omni updates the invoice dates on sales orders when they’re sent to MCF/FBA for fulfillment.

If you don’t want Omni updating sales orders from certain channels, choose those channels under Do Not Update Invoice Date For in your Amazon FBA dashboard settings.

Notifications

Configure Email Notifications in your Amazon FBA dashboard settings:

  • Events—Choose to be notified about Duplicate Barcodes, Missing Carton Information, or File Import Failures.

  • Recipients—Add the recipients’ emails addresses under Send emails to.
