Create a branch

Overview

Branches are places where stock is stored, for example, head office, warehouse or retail store. Branches are managed in the CRM but are managed differently to suppliers and customers.

You can transfer your stock between branches and add locations for your stock within a branch.

Create a branch

Administrator rights required.

  1. Select your username and then select Settings.

  2. Click on Branches and then select Create New Branch.

  3. Add the name of the branch in the Company field (for example, Beachwood store). Do not use special characters *, (, ), ?, $, and %.

  4. Choose the Branch Type:

    • Head Office
This is the office location for your company. Transactions from this branch type will not be in your retail reports.

    • Warehouse
This is where you store your stock (or raw materials) for dispatch to your retail stores. Transactions from this branch will not be in your retail reports.

    • Retail Branch
This is a store or location where you sell goods. Your retail reports are based on transactions in this branch type.

    • Consignment
This is for stock (that you own) that is stored at your customer's premises. You can create and manage customer consignment branches.

  5. Add any other details about the branch. You can decide to show Company, Delivery Address, Phone, Email, and Website on your POS receipts.

  6. Select Save or Save and Back.

  7. You can then see the branch in the CRM list.

FAQs

I've created a new branch but can't see it in the Branch list?

Make sure you log out and then back in for any Branch changes to take effect.

Do I need to fill out the address details?

Yes.  The address details populate information on receipts, so it's always a good idea to fill out these details.

How do I delete a branch?

You can't delete Branches if there have been any stock movements recorded against the branch. In that case, you can only make them Inactive; see the Deleting Contacts for additional information.

What are the differences between Branch Types?

In practice, there is little difference between Branch types, other than to organize your branches in an orderly way. The small differences are detailed above in the "Field Explanation" table.
