Stocktake with Pick 'n' Pack

Stocktake with Pick 'n' Pack

Pick 'n' Pack uses technology that is no longer supported or compatible with the Cin7 Omni platform.

Cin7 Omni no longer provides, for Pick 'n' Pack:

  • technical support

  • security updates

  • bug fixes

  • other forms of assistance and support for the product

We recommend migrating to the Warehouse Management (WMS).

Overview

The stocktake function allows you to count stock 'in the field' using a smartphone or tablet, then sync your stock counts back to Cin7 Omni to create an adjustment or adjustments.

It can be used for your initial stocktake, or any subsequent stocktake you make throughout the year.

You need to setup and login to Pick 'n' Pack before taking the next steps.  If you need help setting it up, please take a look at the Setting up the Pick 'n' Pack Help article.

Count your stock

There are two key things you must do before starting your stocktake. First, reset your stock counts in the stocktake master:

  1. In the left navigation pane, select Stock, then select Stocktake Master.

  2. Select the Branch where you are taking stock.

  3. Select Sync Latest Data.

  4. If you are starting a new stocktake, select Reset Stock Counts. This will zero out counts for stock in Pick 'n' Pack (you will need to sync Pick 'n' Pack for this to take effect).

In the Pick 'n' Pack app:

  1. Make sure you are in the correct branch

  2. From the Type drop-down, select Stocktake

  3. Select or press the Sync button

  4. You can filter products by pinning one or many categories or sub-categories, as well as by zone or by a specific product.

You are now ready to begin counting stock.

There should be one tab on the Pick N Pack Screen called ‘Not Counted’.

To count each item you can either:

  • Scan a product once, then manually enter the count and select 'Update Qty'; or

  • Consecutively scan each inventory item of one product at a time, and the system will count the items for you; or

  • Select a product by clicking/pressing on it, then entering the counts.

Once you have counted one item, a new tab will appear for items counted.

Continue counting all items until there are no more products in the ‘Not Counted’ tab.

You can scan the same product twice, with a log recording the individual counts
If you find that you have items remaining, this may be because you have no stock of this item in real life, but you currently have stock in the system. Any products that have stock need to be counted and a count of 0 entered.

Once you have finished counting all your stock press or select the sync button at the top of the Pick N Pack.

You can see that there is a number in brackets to the right of the 'Sync' button, which is the number of products being sent back to the backend.

Adjust in the stock

  1. In the stocktake master module in the Backend, select Sync Latest Data which will pull the data from the mobile stocktake to the Stocktake Master module.

  2. Finally, select ‘Process Counts’ to start the adjustment creation process.

The system will alert you if there are missing products from the stocktake.

  3. Select 'Continue without not counted products' and you will be given a  summary of the differences.

  4. Select 'Continue with Adjusting these Variances' and in the next page select 'Import New Adjustments'.

This final step will create Adjustments in the Adjustments module, which will either increase or decrease your stock.
