Cin7 Omni + Shopify — Branch Routing / Split Order Issues
I’m interested to hear whether other multi-location retailers using Cin7 Omni + Shopify are experiencing significant issues with branch routing and split orders.
We currently operate across multiple retail locations plus our warehouse, with inventory held across all locations.
Our issue is that Shopify is capable of determining where stock is available and splitting/routing an order across the appropriate fulfilment locations. However, once the order comes into Cin7, the routing does not appear to consistently follow Shopify’s fulfilment locations.
We are finding that:
- Orders are not always being allocated to the correct branch.
- Orders that should be split across locations are not splitting correctly.
- Our team is having to manually open orders, check stock availability and change fulfilment locations.
- Cin7’s Branch Routing / Split Order setup appears to be limited to a preferred branch plus two alternative branches.
- As the number of locations grows, this becomes increasingly difficult to manage and does not appear scalable.
The manual workload this is creating for our team is huge. What should be a basic automated process is requiring constant manual intervention and checking.
The level of frustration this is causing is now creating serious doubt for us around whether Cin7 is the right system for a growing multi-location retail business.
We have invested significant time and resources into implementing Cin7, so it is extremely concerning to encounter limitations around what we consider fairly fundamental functionality, an order comes in, the system identifies where the stock is, splits the order where required, and routes it to the correct locations for fulfilment.
Ideally,
Shopify order - Shopify assigns/splits locations - cin7 retains those exact location allocations - each branch fulfils its portion of the order.
For retailers operating 4, 5, 10+ locations, how are you managing this?
Has anyone successfully configured Cin7 to achieve the above without ongoing manual intervention?
Or are other multi-location businesses experiencing the same problem?
We would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has found a scalable solution, as at the moment the amount of manual intervention required is simply not sustainable as we grow.
