Search options for Cin7 Omni CRM Customers by Account Number

Hi Cin7 team,

We’re using Cin7 Omni and have a suggestion to improve the customer search and customer ID workflow.

Currently, we can find a customer by entering their first name (owner name) or company name (trading/store name). This works, but many of our customers have memorised their 4‑digit customer ID/account number (e.g. 1234) and quote that to us when they contact us.

To speed up customer lookup and reduce errors, could you please consider:

1. Customer search by account number (customer ID)
   Add the ability in Cin7 Omni to search for a customer directly using their 4‑digit customer ID/account number (e.g. in the global search bar and/or the customer search field on orders/invoices).
2. Automatic customer ID generation when creating customers
   When creating a new customer profile, have Cin7 Omni automatically generate the next available 4‑digit customer ID instead of us needing to assign it manually. Ideally:
   • The ID is unique across all customers.
   • It follows a sequential pattern (e.g. 0123, 0124, 0125…).
   • There is some configuration option so we can define the format (e.g. 4 digits, prefix, starting number).

These two enhancements would make it much faster for our team to find customers (especially when they only give us their ID) and would help maintain consistent, error‑free customer IDs.
