Yes, you can do this.
Navigate to main Settings:
then: Products
then: Product Settings
Scroll to where is says Additional Search Fields
Check against the Supplier Option
Navigate back to Products Module
If you don't see it straight away as a search option drop down, please log fully out then back in again to see the change.

Oh, and don't forget to Save after selecting the Supplier Option :-)
