Enable BOTH product & customer level alternative GL account to push to Xero
Currently only 1 type of alternative GL account is pushed to Xero, either on the product level or on the customer level.
We wuld really like to have both, so we can report in Xero both on a country & product category level. Current workaround is to link the product level GL accounts to different accounts in Xero but I'd rather have it as a category because this workaround results in way more admin work.

Hi Jolien,
You are able to allocate a category to products. A combination of allocating GL accounts to Order/Branch/Customer and Category to a product is a commonly used process.
I could be missing something so feel free to clarify

So if we set an alternative GL account on a product for product categories, and one on the customer for a country split in Xero, then when the order is pushed to xero only the product category will be seen in Xero. See also below. SO you can't set two different tracking categories for an order, only 1.

The above statement is correct. You cannot send two categories to Xero from the same transaction. In your case, I would suggest using a close workaround by using GL account code to track Country sales & Tracking Category to track Products (
or vice versa). Below is how you set it up in Accounting settings under Alt GL accounts.
For the below example, Country options would be allocated to customers / Branch / Orders & Product Category options would be defaulted in individual products.
