Notification alert or pop up when duplicate CustoPo no is used in Sales order

OK, we enter lots of orders from one supplier and we quote their PO number in the Cust PONo Field. Occasionally they send the same order twice and we put it on twice and produce the parts twice which they then do not accept. 

So if I try to create another order with the same PO Number it flips up to say that it already exists
