Taxable and non-taxable line items on same sales order Answered
We are required to charge sales tax on some, but not all, of the products we sell. This is very easy to set up in Shopify and Xero/Quickbooks; however, Cin7 lacks the ability to do this - we cannot make specific line items taxable or non-taxable on a single Cin7 sales order (must be the entire sales order). Asking for the ability to set taxable status on a line item basis on a single sales order. Thanks!

Apologies for the delay in response. You can handle taxable and non-taxable products in the sales order by using alternative GL accounts.
Here’s how it works:
If you create an alternative GL account with the tax rate you need, you can assign that GL account directly to any product that should be taxed differently. When those products are added to a sales order, they bring in the tax settings from their assigned GL account. This lets you mix taxable and non-taxable items on the same order, even though the order itself has a single default tax setting, the tax rule assigned on the product will supersede all other tax rules.
