Promo codes

Overview

Promo codes can provide discount dollar amounts for your customers in POS.

Promo codes have a number of useful features:

  1. Expiration dates

  2. Custom promotional codes

  3. Redemption limits

 

This means that you can set up a promotion that will last until the end of the weekend, where customers can use the offer code "SPRINGSALE" to receive "$5 off their next purchase". When you have given this promotion discount say 100 times, the promotion will stop automatically.

Administrator rights required

Create a promo code

To set up a promotion like an example above:

  1. Select your username in the top right and then select Settings.

  2. From the POS menu, select POS Gift Vouchers & Store Credit.

  3. Select Create new voucher.
    You'll only need to fill out some of the fields in the form that appears.

  4. In the Code field, enter a promo code of your choice (e.g., SPRINGSALE).

  5. From the Type drop-down, choose Promotion.

  6. Enter an Expiry Date for when the promotion should end using the date picker.

  7. Enter a dollar amount in the Amount in $ field.

  8. Enter a Redeemed Count limit to choose the maximum redemptions for this voucher.

  9. Select Create to save the promo code.

Enable promo code payment option

  1. Select your username in the top right and then select Settings.

  2. From the POS menu, select POS Payments Setup.

  3. Make sure the Promo Code payment type is switched to Active.

Redeem a promo code

Any POS user can redeem a promo code. No administrator rights are required.

  1. Log into the POS and make a transaction as normal.

  2. Select the PAY button.

  3. Select Promo Code.

  4. Enter the Promo Code in the field provided and select Apply Promotion.
    You will see that the dollar amount is discounted from the transaction.

The above works until all the Promo Codes are redeemed, or the date expires.
