Download and assign QuickBooks Online classes

Find out how to assign Cin7 Omni products to QuickBooks Online classes.

QuickBooks Online classes  track income and expenses in different segments of your business. With the intelligent use of classes, you can gain meaningful insights and forecasts.

You can download your classes to Cin7 Omni and assign them to your products. Then, when you sync a sales order, purchase order, or other transaction to QuickBooks Online, line items in the transaction will be assigned to the appropriate class in QuickBooks Online.

Since classes are only assigned to products in Cin7 Omni, you can only have classes assigned to individual line items in QuickBooks Online (rather than entire transactions) – that means you must have set Assign classes to One to each row in transaction in your QuickBooks Online settings.

To categorize entire transactions, use QuickBooks Online locations  instead.

Download classes

Download classes from QuickBooks Online:

  1. Log in to Cin7 Omni.

  2. From the Accounting menu in the navigation, open your QuickBooks Online integration.

  3. Select Refresh.

Now your classes are listed under Classifications > Product Type on product pages.

Assign classes (product types) to products

In Cin7 Omni, classes are known as product types. Here’s how to assign a product type to a product:

  1. Log in to Cin7 Omni.

  2. From the navigation, open Products.

  3. Open a product.

  4. Under Classification, set Product Type to a QuickBooks Online class.

  5. Select Save and Close.

Now, when you sync a transaction with that product to QuickBooks Online, the line item is assigned to the appropriate class in QuickBooks Online.
