Sync Stripe (payment portal) payments to Xero
Overview
Find an overview of how payments from your Stripe payment portal upload to Xero.
Cin7 Omni’s payment portal allows you to collect payments from customers via Stripe, record those payments against their Omni sales orders, and upload them to Xero where they’re automatically reconciled against the invoice for that sale.
Once you’ve set up a Stripe payment portal and enabled payments in your Xero integration settings, each invoice you email to a customer includes a Pay Now button that takes your customer to your Stripe payment gateway. There they pay their invoice in part or full.
Omni makes a record of the payment against the sale order, and when you open your Xero integration dashboard, Omni automatically uploads that record to Xero as a payment transaction.
That payment transaction will automatically reconcile the invoice by crediting the customer’s accounts receivable and debiting a clearing account – you can choose which clearing account gets debited in your Xero integration settings.
Finally, when Stripe debits the payment to your bank account, a second payment transaction is created in Xero. This payment transaction reconciles your clearing account by crediting it for the payment.
