Create and export Amazon FBA shipment plans
Overview
Find out how to create shipment plans and export them to Amazon FBA.
Before replenishing your Amazon FBA stock, you must send Amazon a shipment plan.
A shipment plan tells Amazon what stock they’re receiving, how the goods are packaged, who’s responsible for labeling the goods, and the carrier and tracking details of the shipment. As shipment plans represent changes to your stock levels, they must be synced with Cin7 Omni too.
This article explains how to create shipment plans in Cin7 Omni as purchase orders or branch transfers and export them to Amazon Seller Central. Alternatively, you can create your shipment plans in Amazon Seller Central and import them to Omni.
To create a shipment plan in Omni, you will start the workflow in Omni and complete it in Amazon Seller Central. In Omni, you will create a purchase order (if the stock comes from a supplier) or branch transfer (if the stock comes from another branch), complete its prep and label guidance, and then export the transaction to Amazon Seller Central, where it becomes a shipment plan. Amazon will review your plan and send it back for your approval (Amazon may split the plan in two).
Once you’ve approved the shipment plan, you’ll need to complete the remaining steps in Amazon Seller Central. To do this, follow the Send to Amazon workflow. Once you’ve finalized the shipment plan, you can review and monitor its progress on your FBA Shipments Dashboard in Omni.
1. Create shipment plans (purchase order or branch transfer)
Start by creating your shipment plan (purchase order or branch transfer):
Log in to Cin7 Omni.
From the Integrations menu in the navigation, open your FBA Shipments Dashboard.
-
From the Create Shipment Plan menu, either:
If you’re shipping stock from a branch, select Branch Transfer to FBA.
If you’re having stock shipped from a supplier, select Purchase Order to FBA.
-
Fill in your shipment plan (that is, the purchase order or branch transfer):
Set the Branch (on purchase orders) or Transfer To (on branch transfers) to the branch that’s linked to the Amazon marketplace you’re shipping stock to. If you’re not sure which branch that marketplace is linked to, review the configuration of that marketplace’s Amazon FBA dashboard.
Select Approve.
2. Complete prep and label guidance
Now complete the shipment’s prep and label guidance:
On the Shipment Plans & Prep Products tab of your FBA Shipments Dashboard, find your shipment plan and select Please Select in the Prep Guidance column. The Prep Products dialog will open.
-
Set Who Labels? for the shipment plan:
Seller: You label the goods.
Amazon Label Preferred: Amazon labels the goods (via your third-party labeling service).
Amazon Label Only: Amazon labels the goods.
-
Set Who Preps? for the shipment plan:
Seller: You prep the goods.
Amazon: Amazon preps the goods.
For each product, select a Prep Guidance (how the goods are to be prepped).
Optionally, for each product, select Update Default Prep Guidance to update the default Prep Guidance for that product.
Select Save.
3. Export shipment plans
Finally export your shipment plan to Amazon Seller Central:
On the Shipment Plans & Prep Products tab of your FBA Shipments Dashboard, find your shipment plan(s).
Ensure that the shipment plan’s FBA Integration is set to the Amazon FBA dashboard that’s linked to the Amazon regional marketplace receiving this shipment.
-
Either:
To export individual shipment plans, select the relevant checkbox in the Order ID column, or
To export all shipment plans, select the checkbox in the header or the Order ID column.
Select Send Shipment Plans.
Your shipment plan will move to the Review Shipments tab on your FBA Shipments Dashboard.
4. Review and approve shipment plans
Keep an eye on the Review Shipments tab on your FBA Shipments Dashboard. Once the shipment plan has been reviewed by Amazon, you can approve it:
On the Review Shipments tab, select the checkbox beside the shipment plan to approve.
Select Approve Shipments.
5. Finalize shipment plans in Amazon Seller Central
Once you’ve approved the shipment plan, log in to Amazon Seller Central and complete the remaining steps in the Send to Amazon workflow. Once you’ve finalized the shipment plan, you can review and monitor its progress on your FBA Shipments Dashboard in Omni.
6. Review and monitor shipment plans
On your FBA Shipments Dashboard, open the Shipping Summary tab.
Here you’ll see a list of active shipment plans. You can select View Shipment Contents to view the contents of the shipment. Or select the transaction’s reference to open the relevant purchase order or branch transfer.
See the status of the shipment in Status column:
WORKING: The shipment has not yet been shipped.
SHIPPED: The shipment has been picked up by the carrier.
CLOSED: The shipment has arrived at the fulfillment center and all items have been marked as received.
