Update order statuses and shipping info in BigCommerce

Overview

Find out how to update the statuses of BigCommerce sales orders and upload shipping information.

BigCommerce uses order statuses to track the progress of orders from sale to fulfillment.

But in order to track your orders accurately, BigCommerce must know when you’ve dispatched sales orders in Cin7 Omni. You can configure your BigCommerce integration to update the statuses of BigCommerce sales orders once the matching Omni sales orders have been dispatched.

Optionally, your integration can also upload shipping information (Carrier and Tracking Code), limit which sales orders’ statuses get updated, and upload statuses and shipping information automatically.

Configure update statuses, upload shipping info

You must enable your BigCommerce integration to update the statuses of sales orders:

  1. Log in to Cin7 Omni.

  2. From the Integrations menu in the navigation, open your BigCommerce integration.

  3. Open Settings.

  4. Open the Settings tab.

  5. Enable Download Orders > Update Order Status > Enable Update Order Status.

  6. Optionally, if you want Omni to update BigCommerce sales order statuses automatically on a schedule, enable Order Status Auto-Update.

  7. Optionally, if you only want a BigCommerce sale order’s status to be updated if the matching Omni sales order has a shipping tracking code (Tracking Code), set Restrict Order Status Updates to Tracking Code.

  8. Select Save Settings.

Optionally, you can enable Omni to upload the Carriers and Tracking Codes of sales orders too:

  1. Log in to Cin7 Omni.

  2. From the Integrations menu in the navigation, open your BigCommerce integration.

  3. Open Settings.

  4. Open the Connect tab.

  5. Set Update Shipments to Yes.

  6. Select Save Connection Settings.

Update order statuses, shipping info

An order’s status can only be updated, and its shipping information can only be uploaded, if the matching Omni sales order has a Fully Dispatched date. It may need a Tracking Code, too, if you’ve set Restrict Order Status Updates to Tracking Code in your BigCommerce integration settings (see above).

When you update an order’s status from Omni, its Status gets set to Completed (if it has no shipping information to upload, or if that information isn’t uploaded) or to Shipped (if it has its shipping information uploaded).

To update BigCommerce sales order statuses and upload shipping info:

  1. Log in to Cin7 Omni.

  2. From the Integrations menu in the navigation, open your BigCommerce integration.

  3. Select Update Dispatched Orders on the Order Status tile.

Alternatively, if you’ve enabled Order Status Auto-Update in your BigCommerce integration settings (see above), the BigCommerce order status will be updated automatically.
